At Mewsic Academy we value all of our very talented students and their accomplishments. In the past we have sent students to competition, recitals, and auditions. This week in the midsummer we are celebrating the feats of two of our exceptionally talented students who are moving on to conservatory in the fall to major in a Bachelors program in Music.
Annie, an online student of ours has been with us since middle school taking Music Theory, Composition, and Music English; a program we piloted with Annie to help ease the transition of international students into American conservatories. While taking lessons with our composition faculty, Annie composed an original harp piece with electric augmentation which premiered in her harp recital in her home country.
As a talented high school graduate with incredible ability on the harp, she applied and was accepted at 7 top tier American conservatories with scholarships. We are elated to report that Annie will be attending New England Conservatory this fall for Harp Performance. We look forward to the amazing things she will continue to do at the world class music institution.
Tyler, a recent graduate of a nearby high school program, has been with the academy since his sophomore year. In that time he has regularly performed with local professional ensembles through our piloted music entrepreneurship program which connects students up to their first paying gigs.
In the summer of his senior year, he won an audition to perform with the John Philips Souza National Honor Band, a nationally selective wind ensemble consisting of the best high school players across the United States. In the fall, he won an audition for the MMEA Southeast Regional Districts Competition with an All State Recommendation making him the first student ever in his town's history to have every made the MMEA District Orchestra. In addition to these accomplishments, he has been serving as a principle trombonist for a local college orchestra. He will major in Music this fall at the University of Massachusetts in Boston.
